About the location
Ragusa (setting of the TV detective show Inspector Montalbano) is one of Sicily’s most photogenic towns, a jumble of baroque buildings sprawled across a hillside in the UNESCO-listed Val di Noto. It’s split into two parts; Ragusa Ibla is the older, more traditional area, while Ragusa Superiore has a more modern feel.
Ragusa Ibla is a warren of atmospheric lanes, which wind down the hillside and open out into sunny piazzas every so often. Look out for the Duomo di San Giorgio, one of the island’s grandest cathedrals, and the Giardino Ibleo, a leafy park with lovely valley views. Head up to Ragusa Superiore and you’ll find another cathedral, plus shops, cafes and photo-worthy views across Ragusa Ibla and the surrounding area.
Ragusa is an ideal base for exploring southern Sicily. Discover the equally beautiful towns of Noto and Modica, head to the beach for the day, or make a trip to stunning Syracuse.

This hotel is on 5 levels--the lowest is on a main thoroughfare, where drop-offs and pick-ups occur. Each of the upper levels, converted from an old monastery, is built into the ancient hills of Ibla, the old city of Ragusa. Ibla, many centuries ago, contained countless caves built into the limestone mountains, and the hotel's design works with the existing caves wherever possible. The 4th floor is a beautiful indoor/outdoor breakfast room featuring a large buffet, and the 5th floor leads out to the ancient streets of Ibla, steps from the Duomo and a number of plazas and streets comprising the shopping and restaurant area. Hotel staff are very polite and helpful.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two-night stay at this unique and lovely hotel, which we visited with another couple we were traveling with. It is perfectly situated for exploring the fascinating town of Ragusa Ibla, which we found to be a delight. The hotel staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and comfortable, and we all loved the breakfasts on the beautiful hillside terrace. I can't say enough about this place, it's just great.

built into the side of a cliff, you enter this hotel on the ground floor, and exit into the heart of the town on the 5th floor. Our room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The staff was very nice. The breakfast room is on the top floor with a terrific view of the valley below. The location is perfect- within a one minute walk, you're in the heart of the old city. You can't go wrong booking here.

We stayed one night at this hotel. We’ve got un upgrade from the garden room to a room with a small balcony and a nice view. But the room was at the fifth floor, near the door that leads to old town and near the elevator, so it was quite noisy until late in the night.
The room and the bathroom were big and clean.
The breakfast fost quite poor in choices but the coffee was good.
We left the car between blue lines right in front of the hotel.

We would absolutely recommend San Georgio and would stay here again! The staff was always personable and professional, which takes skill to achieve. We would definitely stay here as a location for day trips in SE Sicily. From the moment we arrived to our beautiful clean, quiet, and modern room with a view, we were happy and satisfied. The next morning we reveled in the fabulous breakfast with all one could want from scrambled eggs, meats and cheeses, yogurt and fresh, cut fruit, mouthwatering assortment of sweet pastries, fresh juice and coffee, and hand made cappuccinos or espresso. The location is central in Ibla/old town Ragusa. The parking was easy during our stay when we took day trips. The elevator was definitely a reason for choosing San Giorgio. When we asked for extra pillows, they arrived with no fuss. We slept so good and good open our windows for lovely air. We were so happy with our hotel choice for 3 nights in SE Sicily!
