- A stone’s throw from the beating heart of Sorrento
- Take a dip in the cascading swimming pool
- Dine with beautiful views on the hotel terrace
Perched on the side of a cliff and nestled into a rockface, Grand Hotel Capodimonte fuses so seamlessly with its surroundings we wouldn’t be surprised if you missed it the first time around! Put simply, this prestigious 4-star hotel is an architectural masterpiece. Built in the traditional Mediterranean style, the modern hotel is light, airy and decorated in an elegant classic-contemporary style.
Grand Hotel Capodimonte is a great escape for couples or families with older children. There are many quiet little corners to hide away in, as well as superb open spaces both in the lounges and on the terraces. As you can expect, the hotel enjoys gorgeous views of the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius, which are perhaps some of the best in Sorrento. But it is surely the hotel’s five cascading swimming pools that is its crowning glory. The pools all face that magnificent view, so you can cool off from the summer heat while admiring the sheer beauty before your eyes.
Despite its hidden, hillside location, Grand Hotel Capodimonte is less than 15-minutes’ walk away from Sorrento centro. The town is world-famous for ceramics so be sure to stroll the pretty streets looking for bargains. Food and wine plays a huge part in the way of life here and the little town has many wonderful options suitable for every taste and budget! The port, with direct links to the Amalfi coast and Capri is only 30 minutes away by foot.
The hotel has 184 rooms (official rating 4-star). Child prices apply to ages 2-12 years. Minimum stay 3 nights.

About the location
Home to pedestrian streets lined with family-run gelaterias, souvenir shops selling wonderful ceramics and wonderful trattorias, Sorrento is a charming destination for all. After filling your Instagram feed with perfect pictures of Sorrento old town and pretty pastel houses tumbling into the sea, why not drink in a bit of culture? In just a short walk you’ll be at all the town’s sights, including the Museo Correale di Terranova, Sorrento’s art museum where you can see grand works from the 15-19th centuries.
Sorrento is built onto the side of a rocky mountain, which is covered in vines and olive and lemon groves. But if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the town - it can get very busy during July and August - why not head up into the hills? Believe us, it’s worth the effort as spectacular views are guaranteed! For travellers who want to enjoy more urban charms, Naples and Pompeii are both about an hour’s drive or train ride away.
Sorrento excels in the Italian art of people watching, and time spent settled into a comfy chair, gazing at both the view and the passers by is time well spent. Order yourself a limoncello, grab yourself a prime spot on the Piazza Tasso and simply watch the world go by.

Wow!!
Absolutely highly recommended.
On arrival at the entrance, we were greeted by hotel staff and butler to take our luggage directly to reception and then to our rooms.
Your first view at the bottom entrance leaves you feeling curious of what the hotel will bring, but I will give anyone 5 minutes to wonder round the reception floor alone and be amazed by the views. This hotel across the board has you in absolute fixation over the multiple areas you can see a stunning view across Sorrento.
Staff were all so helpful, professional, friendly and very well presented, making you feel very welcome.
Many of the sea view rooms carry a much higher price, so if you are pushed to have a garden view room as we were, then do not worry as the hotel areas will give you all the views you will need and the room will give you a quiet and private area of the hotel.
Location is great also, within a 5 minute walk you are at the top of the old town and in 10 minutes you are in the main square of Sorrento.
Easy access to day trips, shops, restaurants and much more.
Food is also brilliant and the restaurants are very well staffed and and very quick to any of your needs. Once again all the restaurant areas have spectacular views.
Swimming pool, fitness gym and Spa 👌🏻

There is nowhere else like this wonderful
hotel. Our second stay here and it just gets better and better. The hotel is stunning, amazing views and luxurious rooms - go for a bay facing one if you can. The staff are so friendly, charming and helpful - they make the stay so special. The terraces are beautiful and the pool area nice to relax above the bustle of the town. It will be a wrench to leave after a perfect week of relaxation and exploring the beautiful coast but we will be back!

As we arrived at the Capodimonte our taxi driver told us this was the best Hotel in Sorrento which we thought he must say to all his passengers at whatever hotel he drops them off at. But it turned out to be true from the moment we walked in to the time we left we could not fault anything. The staff were very professional but also very friendly, our room was very light and airy and looked as if it had been redecorated recently and had a large terrace with sea views over the Bay. We had a large comfortable bed with bath with Shower over, which house keeping serviced everyday. Breakfast and Dinner was served in the restaurant overlooking the bay with a very good selection at the Breakfast Buffet and a formal three course Dinner very well presented.

Beautiful hotel in a PERFECT location! We loved our stay at this hotel. Wonderful service from start to finish with the staff. The concierge made dinner reservations for us every night. The room was beautiful!! We had a room overlooking the sea and words don’t do it justice. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was also good. The location was amazing, maybe an 8 minute walk to the Main Street in Sorrento. Would love to stay here again!

Stunning hotel in the heart of Sorrento, excellent service from check in until check out. The photos on website do not do it justice. You must see this hotel in person. Beautiful, classical rooms. I stayed in a classic double garden view. Food in the hotel is of a very good standard. We had breakfast included in our stay and there was lots of options to choose from. We ate in the Bar L’agrumeto for lunch a couple of times. There are lots of options on the menu. There are 5 pools at the pool area. Nicely built into the mountain. Perfect for relaxing. They have a gym on site. I didn’t use but it’s there if you are looking for a hotel with gym. The views from the hotel are unbelievable. Stunning view of Mount Vesuvius. 5-7 min walk to the centre with endless cafes, pizzerias, restaurants, wine bars, shops etc. The beach is down in the centre too but a little further walk to get to it as the centre is really big. Lots of yours to do and the hotel give you a pamphlet and can arrange the tours for you to do.
